Regulatory framework. Directive 2002/58/EC ("ePrivacy") as transposed by Member States; GDPR; Swiss revFADP. For Italy, the Italian Data Protection Authority's cookie guidelines of 10 June 2021 (Provv. n. 231/2021) are taken into account.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website sends to your device (computer, tablet, smartphone) and that your device stores in the browser, to be retransmitted to the site on the next visit. In addition to cookies, the Site may use browser-side storage technologies (e.g. HTML5 localStorage) which serve a similar function and are subject to the same regulatory regime under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive.
2. Cookies and storage used on this Site
The following table lists every cookie and storage technology used on gridsphere.energy as of the date of publication.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Consent | Sub-processor |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
gs-cookie-consent (localStorage) | Strictly necessary — consent record | Stores the user's cookie-consent choice. Required to evidence valid consent (Art. 7(1) GDPR burden of proof). | Persistent until cleared by user | NOT required (Art. 5(3) ePrivacy — strictly necessary for the consent mechanism itself) | GridSphere (first party) |
gs-language-banner-dismissed (localStorage) | Functional storage | Suppresses the "Deutsch / italiano coming soon" banner once dismissed by the user. | Persistent until cleared | NOT required (functional preference explicitly invoked by the user) | GridSphere |
HubSpot Meetings widget cookies (__hstc, hubspotutk, __hssc, __hssrc) on /contact/ only | Functional + analytics by HubSpot for the meeting-booking embed | Identification of the meeting requestor across page loads; HubSpot internal analytics on widget usage. Loaded ONLY after the user opens /contact/. | Up to 13 months (HubSpot defaults) | Required — the widget loads only after the user has accepted the cookie banner on /contact/ | HubSpot, Inc. |
HubSpot Forms widget cookies (__hstc, hubspotutk, __hssc, __hssrc) on /contact/ only | Functional + analytics by HubSpot for the form embed | Same as above for form submissions. | Up to 13 months (HubSpot defaults) | Required — same gating as above | HubSpot, Inc. |
2.1 Strictly necessary — no consent required
Under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, consent is NOT required for storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user. The gs-cookie-consent localStorage entry falls in this category — it exists precisely to record your consent choice.
2.2 Functional storage explicitly invoked by the user
The gs-language-banner-dismissed entry is written only when you click "Dismiss" on the language-banner. It is treated as a functional preference invoked by the user, with no tracking, profiling, cross-site or cross-device measurement.
2.3 HubSpot widgets on /contact/ — consent required
The HubSpot Meetings and HubSpot Forms widgets on /contact/ set cookies under HubSpot's default behaviour (analytics + identification). These widgets are loaded ONLY after you accept the cookie banner — until then, no HubSpot script runs and no HubSpot cookie is set.
You may revoke consent at any time by clearing the gs-cookie-consent entry in your browser (DevTools → Application → Local Storage → delete the key) and reloading the Site.
2.4 Technologies NOT used on this Site
For the avoidance of doubt:
- Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager: NOT used.
- Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Google Ads conversion pixels: NOT used.
- Customer support / helpdesk SaaS (Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk): NOT used.
- Session replay (Hotjar, Contentsquare, FullStory): NOT used.
If any of these were activated in future, this Cookie Policy would be updated and an explicit opt-in consent banner would be deployed before activation.
3. How to manage your cookie preferences
You can manage cookies on this Site:
- First-time visit: by responding to the cookie banner (accept / reject).
- Subsequent visits: by clearing the
gs-cookie-consententry in your browser's local storage to be prompted again. - Browser settings: modern browsers allow you to block, delete, or restrict cookies through their privacy settings. Each browser provides its own controls — see your browser's documentation.
Note: blocking or removing the strictly-necessary entry will reset your consent state — no functionality of the Site is otherwise impaired.
4. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy in line with technical or regulatory changes. Material changes will be communicated by updating the "Last updated" date and, where required, by re-prompting the cookie banner.
